VET
| VET Automotive VET Automotive is offered over a two-year period in Years 11 and 12. It can also be an option for Year 10 students. This subject consists of a theoretical and a practical component which is delivered in our well equipped automotive workshop. Students practise hands-on skills that are relevant and useful for prospective employment. Not only does a student gain credits for his or her VCE certificate, but on successful completion of all four units, a Certificate Two in Automotive Technology will be awarded to that student. The course offered at Mount Erin is the same as that offered by TAFE at considerably less cost. Credits may also be given when students continue further studies in apprenticeships. Students use specially prepared workbooks to cover the required theoretical and practical tasks and attention is given to hands-on skills covering a comprehensive course of study including most aspects of the automotive trade. |

Mount Erin College has teamed with Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, to become the site of a Local Cisco Networking Academy. Upon successful completion of the program and final examination, students are certified as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and are prepared to go on to higher education in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or enter the IT workforce. The Networking Academy program employs an elearning model, using a combination of web-based, instructor-led learning and hands-on labs to teach high school, college and adult students how to design, build and maintain computer networks of local, national and global businesses. The Networking Academy program provides course work for a complete range of basic through advanced networking concepts from 'pulling cables', through such complex concepts as 'subnet masking' rules and strategies to troubleshooting. Through the Academy program, students learn fundamental networking concepts and have a chance to apply their new skills in the 'real world'workplace via Cisco's Work-Based Learning Program. This program matches Cisco partners and customers with Academy graduates for internship and mentoring opportunities.
The course fees are approximately $300 per semester.
