Student Welfare Services
Our Purpose
Mount Erin College is committed to providing the best quality support for all students. The College takes a holistic approach to supporting students and understands that there are a myriad of issues that can impact on a young person’s experience of school. The Welfare team is well equipped to deal with the many facets of a student’s life and endeavors to maintain strong links with community agencies to facilitate referrals when appropriate.
Referrals
· Students are able to self refer to the Welfare Services Office.
· Teachers may also refer students after consultation with relevant Student Services leader.
· Parents or guardians can also call the office and speak to a member of the welfare team who will then follow up with the student.
· If issues are identified by a teacher or a student discloses an issue to a teacher, they can also refer to welfare (in circumstances relevant to ‘Mandatory Reporting’ legislation, teachers are required to do so).
· Referrals to Welfare are first seen by the Head of Student Services to ensure that students are linked to the most appropriate worker.
