KLA - Mathematics

At Mount Erin College in Mathematics the following options are offered to students:
Years 7 & 8: Mathematics (CSF II core)
Year 9: Mathematics
(Designed to prepare the ‘less able’ student for Year 10)
  Standard Mathematics (The standard CSF II Mathematics)
  Total Mathematics (Designed to extend the ‘more able’ student)
Year 10: Everyday Mathematics
(Promotes basic Mathematics skills)
(Leads to Foundation Mathematics in Year 11)
  Mathematics (The standard CSF II Mathematics)
(Leads to General Mathematics and/or Mathematical Methods)
Year 11: Foundation Mathematics
(A terminal course which provides ‘survival’ Mathematics skills)
  General Mathematics
(A ‘commerce’& ‘trade’ type Mathematics course)
(Leads to Further Mathematics in Year 12)
  Mathematical Methods (A ‘science’, ‘IT’ & ‘engineering’ type Mathematics course)
(Leads to Mathematical Methods & Specialist Mathematics in Year 12)
Year 12: Further Mathematics
(A ‘commerce’ & ‘trade’ type Mathematics course)
  Mathematical Methods
(A ‘science’ & ‘IT’ type Mathematics course)
  Specialist Mathematics (A ‘science’, & ‘engineering’ type Mathematics course)
The Mathematics curriculum incorporates textbooks, websites, both scientific and graphic calculators, computers for mathematics related software and the Internet, puzzles, games, problem-solving activities and projects.
Students are also encouraged to enter the Australian Mathematics Competition.
