Learning Centre
The Mount
Erin College Learning Centre offers a range of support and assistance programs
for all students.
Students who are funded through the PSD (Program for Students with Disabilities) can meet and work with their Integration Aides or teacher in the Learning Centre facility. Some specialist and withdrawal classes are offered, depending on individual student needs.
The facility houses a number of other programs and resources to assist students with literacy and numeracy development. A specialist teacher offers some withdrawal and small group support to junior students and works with classroom teachers to assist in the development of broader and more appropriate curriculum for students with special learning needs.
A home and community reading program is also offered through the Learning Centre and parents and community volunteers (many from the Baxter Village) work with some of our students to assist them with their reading.
A home work club operates during lunchtimes and after school by prior arrangement and staff are on hand to assist any student (or parent) with homework issues or simply to provide a convenient and comfortable place where homework can be completed or advice on planning and studying can be sought.
A range of visiting teachers and specialists are also based at the Learning Centre at different times. A psychologist, speech therapist, vision and hearing visiting teachers are some who work from this area.
The Leaning Centre runs extended transition programs during Terms 3 and 4 for primary school students (and staff) to assist with the smooth transition to secondary school and aid in supporting and identifying students in need of extra assistance.
For more information please contact the Learning Centre Coordinator or appropriate Sub-School Director.
