Physical Education and Health Education
Health and Physical Education promotes an understanding of the importance of personal and community actions in promoting health and lifelong participation in physical activity, and of the crucial role that supportive physical and social environments play in the development of the health of individuals and communities.

Students from Years 7 to 10 learn about:

  • Nutrition: healthy eating habits
  • Fitness: opportunities for keeping healthy and fit
  • Team sport skills: opportunities to participate in various team sports
  • Individual sport skills: opportunities to participate in various individual sports
  • Safety skills: understand and be aware of various safety aspects
  • Aquatic awareness: participate in various water activities
  • Coaching roles: promote effective relationships and responsibilities
  • Umpiring roles: encourage students to learn the role as an umpire or referee in chosen sports
  • Social issues: understand issues such as drugs, alcohol, sex education and society
 
The Health and Physical Education Department provides a foundation for developing active and informed members of society capable of managing the interactions between themselves and their social, cultural, organisational, physical and natural environments in the pursuit of lifelong involvement in physical activity, health and wellbeing.

VCE Physical Education: This subject focuses on biological, social and cultural influences on performance and participation in physical activity. VCE students are required to undertake two years study of Physical Education according to the VCE study design.
